PITCH (how high or low a note is)
Well, first things first - just like with any other language, you need to be able to read it!!
So, we need to make sense of the way that music is written down . . .
Here's the names of the notes, and how they fit onto the STAVES (the sets of five lines). There's probably a bit more here than we covered in lessons - you have the TREBLE CLEF (which you should know) and the BASS CLEF (which deals with low notes.
Not so difficult really!
Try working out what the notes are on the stave below - move your mouse over them to see if you are right!!
Next we need to understand where each of these notes is on the piano or keyboard . . .
Look at how the black keys are grouped in twos and threes - it's a pattern that makes it easy to find the note 'C' . . . it's before every group of two black notes!
